Booba – Vue Sur La Mer Lyrics (feat. Dala)

[Paroles de "Vue sur la mer" feat. Dala]

[Intro : Booba]

[Outro : Booba]
J'espère t'as investi dans l'dur, t'es éclaté dans l'mur
T'es cuit pour de vrai
Sale enfant d'putain, j'vais t'faire à toutes les sauces
En crème en confiture, futur et imparfait
T'as pris une grosse baffe dans ta mère, parce que t'as cru que tout s'réglait sur le net
Autant de Ducance n'est pas volontaire
Soninké nucléaire, j'ai grandi sur Namek
Autant de violence, c'était nécessaire, oh, oh, oh

Beijing increases its defense budget as US eyes encircling China in battle for regional dominance. Welcome to the new arms race!

Follow RT on

An arms race is heating up in the seas around East Asia the US is planning to increase its military spending aiming to contain China, while Beijing is set to secure its regional periphery from encirclement.

China’s governing party announced on Friday that it would be increasing the country’s annual defence spending by 6.8 percent – taking it up to a total of $280 billion – and affirming its strong opposition to “Taiwan separatism”.

Simultaneously, the US is reaching deep into its pockets in a bid to try and contain Beijing’s regional influence. American military leaders are reportedly looking for an extra $27.4 billion in funding to “establish a network of precision-strike missiles” along the “first island chain” – an archipelago stretching from the islands of Japan into the South China Sea.

US needs to choose between new ICBMs & nightmare of nuclear deterrence OR meaningful disarmament through arms control

The rush for armaments already adds to existing military tensions and muscle-flexing in the area, none of which have eased under the presidency of Joe Biden.

As the cornerstone of its “Indo-Pacific” strategy, Washington aims to sustain its own regional and global military supremacy by countering China’s rise with a strategy of military containment around its entire periphery, similar to its approach to Iran and Russia.

Although China is framed frequently as the “aggressor”, Beijing’s objective is far more modest than recognized. It is seeking to achieve security in its own backyard by achieving parity with the US – not on a global scale, but a local one. This ultimately brings the showdown to the question of the security of Taiwan and the aforementioned first island chain, which Washington fears could be undercut by China’s growing naval forces. The stage is now set for a prolonged showdown.

Throughout history, a common pattern of great powers has been to seek out security at home by creating a regional “safe space” around them, minimizing their military vulnerabilities from potential competitors and hostile nations, and thus allowing them to pursue their interests with impunity. The most famous example of this is the “Monroe Doctrine” – that is, the longstanding policy of the US to maintain undisputed dominance over the entire Western hemisphere and keep foreign competitors (beginning with Britain and France) out of it. This is why the US has been so aggressive towards Cuba, especially in the Cold War.

It might be noted that China desires, although less explicitly, something similar to a Monroe Doctrine of its own. Beijing is less interested in global dominance than in securing its own regional periphery from what it sees as a very obvious US effort to achieve encirclement. To the East are American troops in South Korea and Japan; on its doorstep is US-aligned Taiwan; to the Southeast sit the US-aligned Philippines (although it is increasingly pro-China); and to the Southwest is an increasingly pro-American India.

All around China are growing military liabilities. China’s thinking on foreign policy and military strategy is therefore focused on preventing this encirclement; thus the need to reach “parity” with America in a local capacity.

Key to this is of course the South and East China Seas. The Western media frame this as an “expansionist” activity or “aggression” by Beijing, but that is not the case. China claimed territory in both those maritime areas before the establishment of the PRC itself. What has changed are the stakes: Whoever dominates both seas militarily controls the strategic region termed above as the first island chain.

If China is to reach its goals here, it will be able to easily capture Taiwan and thus overwhelm the pinnacle of American power projection in this area – which in turn would lead to doubts about the Second Island Chain. The end result will be that China becomes the undisputed regional hegemon. It’s a make-or-break moment for Washington.

As a result, both sides are now raising their stakes in the region and investing more money and force in the growing military standoff. Beijing is expanding its navy and has also invested in artificial islands in the seas in order to expand its air-defence zones, aiming to establish an “area denial” against the United States Navy and Air Force and limiting its ability to defend Taiwan in a conflict scenario.

As China has the advantage of defending its home turf, the US is responding by amplifying its missile capabilities around the area. Washington’s goal would be to simply prevent China from dominating the area completely, which perhaps alludes to the reality that the balance of power is only shifting in one direction.

As Beijing draws a red line in South China Sea, US shouldn’t expect too much support from its so-called Asian ‘allies’

It might be noted that China’s actual military spending is still far behind that of the United States, both in overall and proportional terms. However, as it is not focused globally, it is able to concentrate it on one contest and pose problems.

As the race to invest more and more in the region heats up, this might also cause issues for the US elsewhere. Central questions for America are how it can keep up the pace against Russia in Europe – or Iran in the Middle East. Tough choices lie ahead for America’s global military commitments. This only goes to show that China is the biggest challenger and priority right now to US hegemony, and even if a formal conflict remains unlikely, this new arms race will arguably be, like the former Cold War, a marathon to see just how far each country is willing to go to maintain the balance of power. It’s game on.

US campus libs think they’re promoting ‘diversity’ by holding a panel on ‘black sex’ for black students only. Seriously.

Tulane University in New Orleans held a “sex-positive” week filled with virtue-signaling, borefest events for students, the strangest of which was a talk on “black sex” that was race exclusive.

Billed as a “diverse week of comprehensive, queer-inclusive, culturally-specific, sex-positive sexual health events and conversations,” Tulane’s ‘sex week’ contained some understandable topics like one on safe sex, another on “reconnecting with your sexuality after trauma,” as well as some predictably woke happenings to prove the school’s promise of “diversity.” One panel, however, flew in the face of that “diversity.”

‘Let’s Talk About Black Sex, Baby!’ was held Thursday evening – for “black students only.”

Sex Week 2021 is almost here with another week of amazing events! Sex Week brings together the Tulane community to offer a week of comprehensive, queer-inclusive, culturally-specific, sex-positive events and conversations. Full schedule: https://t.co/ZNZMErjnit (2/2) pic.twitter.com/dFD9fHaG0P

On its webpage, organizers invited students to “join New Horizons for a real-talk, relaxing evening and safe space to talk about Black sexuality.”

“The event will feature an interactive panel of students and staff discussing the unique experiences Black femme-identifying and nonbinary people face on campus,” they wrote.

That may sound like a lot of word vomit, but there was a free sex toy thrown in…so there’s that.

Virtue signaling doing a 180 and actually turning racist on modern leftist college campuses is nothing new, but the fact that such mind-numbing wokeism is now being applied to the act of sex is pitiful.

First, what is “black sex”? The term more than implies that sex is different based on race. This puts a heavy emphasis on skin color that should be uncomfortable to everyone except racists. How is a black person having sex any different from a white person or an Asian person or a Hispanic person having sex?

Whatever this mysterious difference is that these panelists discovered, you can only find out if you’re black because the event wasn’t for anyone else, which is pretty incredible. If you go to a racist rally, you’re likely to see events promoted to only “whites” too.

Wokeism has lost its mind when rape, pedophilia and murder are celebrated in ‘Lolita’ and Dr. Seuss is banned

In a convoluted effort to be “sex positive” and “diverse,” desperate liberals are using race to build walls and divide people based on skin color.

There is a point where virtue signaling just becomes the flip side of the coin of racism and it’s sad to see it happening so quickly on college campuses where young people pay exorbitant amounts of money to have their minds molded.

This event at Tulane teaches that sex is somehow different based on race, and it’s okay to discriminate as long as you’re discriminating against the right people. It flies in the face of the idea of diversity. They managed to not only offend every race, but also belittle those black students by implying they need to be cut off from the world when talking about this vague thing called “black sex,” like they’re somehow different because of their skin color and not playing the same game between the sheets as everyone else.

Sex weeks where toys are being handed out are fine and dandy, but do we really need to infect them with extremist virtue signaling and create unnecessary taboos? Woke warriors have gotten so bored with canceling things left and right and inventing new terms for us to ‘educate’ ourselves on that now they’re moving toward the bedroom and doing their best to turn even sex into a headache-inducing chore.

Recent polling on the performance of Britain’s government by a conservative blog gave them stunning ratings despite their obvious failings. The UK is now adopting US hyper-tribalism where blind loyalty trumps observable fact.

Parallax error is a miscalculation in measurement due to competing lines of sight. The point you are looking from might not be the same as someone else’s. That’s now the situation the UK finds itself in politically.

The country’s ‘leading Conservative blog‘has published net satisfaction ratings for the government and other high profile figures. The polling is independent of the party, although it clearly comes from supporters. But that doesn’t diminish the stark results. The only minister to receive a negative rating was Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, due to the fiasco around exams and school closures; the rest are resoundingly positive.

Lockdown without end? Extending furlough till the end of September suggests no return to normal in June

Liz Truss came on top with +86.8 percent. The Secretary of State for International Trade has received a lot of attention lately for negotiating the removal of Trump tariffs on UK products like Scotch whisky and Stilton cheese. This eye-catching deal pales into insignificance next to the UK’s five biggest business groups issuing warnings that Brexit is causing them more problems than Covid-19. In January, exports to the EU were 68 percent lower than the same month in 2020. A survey of small and medium-sized businesses showed that two-thirds have seen negative prices in their supply chain since Brexit.

Second place in the roll of honour goes to Rishi Sunak, who recorded a +74.4 percent approval. The chancellor delivered his budget on Wednesday and was forced to extend furlough until September at a cost of £65 billion. But three million people are either not covered by help schemes or ineligible. They are being left with no recourse and have either met, or are facing, imminent financial ruin

Rounding out the ‘Conservative Medal Podium’ is Dominic Rabb, the foreign secretary, who takes bronze. His major activity recently has been to announce that Britain is slashing aid to deserving causes worldwide. Yemen will get “at least” £87 million, down from £164 million last year. It’s seen by some as a travesty that the fifth-largest economy in the world is cutting aid to a place where two million children are acutely malnourished. This is exacerbated by the government’s approval since July 2020 of £1.4 billion in arms sales to Saudi Arabia, the major aggressor in the conflict that has devastated the nation.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was awarded a rating of +55.7 percent. Granted the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines has been well-handled with 22 million people successfully treated so far. But the prison system is in chaos with the number of convicts on suicide watch increasing by 60 percent since 2010. The nation’s nurses are preparing to strike over being offered a one percent pay rise. The fragility of millions of families is being laid bare by calls that extending the £20 increase in universal credit isn’t enough and that the whole benefit system needs to be overhauled to help those in poverty. The demand for food banks has rocketed since the pandemic hit.

However, Boris’ main activity this week has been an apparent attempt to create a charity so he can take donor money to finance a £200,000 refurbishment of his official residence, as he and fiancee Carrie Symonds reportedly don’t like its current modern style.

And Home Secretary Priti Patel’s (+50.5 percent) alleged bullying of a former civil servant meant taxpayers have to stump up £340,000 in compensation plus legal costs.

Most of the above points have arguable angles depending on political persuasion. No democratic government will ever please everyone, supporters or not. But this poll is disturbing.

The rapturous approval of Britain’s current government is at odds with basic facts. The country has recorded the most Covid-19 deaths in Europe: 123,783. Many experts have expressly blamed this excessive figure on incompetence by the authorities. The prime example is £37 billion spent on the Test and Trace system, which scientists described as having a “marginal impact” on falling rates of Covid-19, and have been marred by a litany of cock-ups.

Dido Harding was a strange appointment to head up the scheme; her previous jobs have been CEO of mobile phone company TalkTalk and being on the board of The Jockey Club, the organisation that held the Cheltenham Gold Cup last March despite warnings from health professionals. That event drew a combined crowd of 250,000 across four days and is thought to be the cause of a local outbreak in pandemic deaths.

There’s also Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who is being trapped by the justice system in Belmarsh Prison, even though millions of Britons feel he should be set free and not offered to America despite their extradition request.

All of these issues together mean it’s impossible to see how the Conservative party have recorded rave reviews. The only explanation is that Britain has irreversibly entered an ‘Us and Them’ scenario. It’s a mirror image of what happens across the Atlantic: Republican or Democrat. Generations vote the same way as their parents did, as that’s the way it is. Policies or previous records don’t matter, it’s Red or Blue. Britain is now in that territory.

How can anyone offer such strong backing for the current government? Even if you think Boris is the best person to be prime minister and feel the same about Sunak as chancellor, no objective and questioning public can award them these ratings. It’s disingenuous.

If you’ll miss lockdown when it’s over, you need to get out more. It’s going to be a wake-up call for the whole world

This cannot be dismissed as something trivial. It looks like the beginning of extreme voter tribalism. When you remove the inclination to question, to probe and to judge with an open mind, you have the hallmarks of a failed democracy. It’s on the basis of this evidence that Britain’s population is putting personal political identity over the good of the nation.

None of us should ignore that.

Mississippi’s ban on trans athletes competing in sports is a step in the right direction to stop kids’ gender being weaponized

Follow RT on

The state is poised to pass legislation barring transgender athletes from competing on women’s high school and college sports teams, outraging some and allowing others to breathe a sigh of relief, but the debate is far from over.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves pledged on Thursday that he would sign the legislation which passed the state Senate last month and was approved by the House earlier this week. In a recent Facebook post, he mentioned his two daughters’ dedication to team sports, suggesting they were being unfairly disadvantaged thanks to “the push for kids to adopt transgenderism.”

If there’s one thing that we are passionate about in the Reeves family, it’s my daughters’ sports. I know that the…

Posted by Tate Reeves on Thursday, February 4, 2021

The governor skewered Biden’s recent executive order barring women’s shelters, prisons, and other gender-defined institutions from ejecting men, arguing – as many others have – that pitting transgender athletes against biological females constitutes a “radical social experiment” and that young women athletes are being placed at an unfair disadvantage.

While the extremely vocal transgender lobby reliably goes to bat for young trans people who feel they’re being discriminated against, advocates for female-born athletes who just want to play their sport without having to face much bigger, stronger athletes who have all the advantages of having gone through male puberty are few and far between. Worse, Biden’s executive order deprives schools that continue to divide student sports by biological sex of public funding.

‘Sad day for women’s sports’: Row erupts after Joe Biden signs gender discrimination order paving way for transgender athletes

The hostile reaction that inevitably emerges when any parent or politician dares to call for a biologically fair sporting contest is enough to chase many of them away – or at least keep them silent. After all, being called a TERF – trans-exclusionary radical feminist – is a fate worse than death for anyone hoping for a career in academia, media, or many other industries, and making public statements denying trans women are in fact women is the equivalent of putting a target on one’s back in some circles.

But if not against women, where can trans women athletes compete? There are already documented cases of trans women annihilating the field in sports from weightlifting to sprinting.

Setting up a transgender league may be financially prohibitive in some school districts, but a regional approach managed by school administrators could solve that problem, in the same way that the parents of home-schooled kids set up sporting contests for their offspring. Such a solution would also clear out any “fakers” motivated by their parents, coaches, or other outside forces to masquerade as female athletes in order to win this or that championship. While it’s not clear how rare of a phenomenon this is, it’s often hyped by opponents of trans women competing in sports, and being able to rule it out as a possibility would help bring both sides toward a sorely-needed reconciliation.

Mississippi’s legislation is a step toward what’s needed to level the playing field, which right now is ripe for abuses. Over a dozen states allowed male-born athletes to compete as women so long as they identified as such, as of 2020, and while lawsuits are piling up against these policies, civil rights advocates like the American Civil Liberties Union have conspicuously taken up arms on the other side of the issue. With they and so many other powerful entities backing up the transgender lobby and crickets chirping on the side of female athletes, it’s no wonder that someone like Reeves, whose athlete daughters have forced him to confront the issue up close and personal, feels the country is under siege.

The cost of four years of college – still considered a ‘must’ by many in the US to succeed in life – can be cut back significantly with a sports scholarship, and in any one of those 16 states that permit, there’s nothing stopping a male runner who doesn’t quite have what it takes to beat other men from identifying as a female over summer break. Returning to the playing field pumped full of hormones, nothing will stop ‘her’ (or her parents, or her coach) from setting school records and getting a free ride to Harvard or Princeton. Horrified trans advocates may insist this never happens, but given how many parents push their children to excel in fields they believe will make them desirable college admissions candidates, it would be a surprise if the phenomenon didn’t exist for trans women.

Even for those young people who believe they are truly trapped in the wrong body – a sensation that no doubt causes extreme psychological discomfort – incentivizing transition as the popular culture of 2021 is setting those kids up for a fall. There’s no way to get around the fact that children who’ve gone through puberty as one gender can’t just be ‘reversed’ into their previous state, and the potential long-term side effects of puberty blockers have not been studied extensively enough for doctors to be rushing out to prescribe them to their prepubescent patients – ironically, this would be the only way athletes born boys might have of attaining physical equality with the girls they’d face as college athletes.

But expecting young teens to understand the long-term consequences of their actions is wildly unrealistic and part of the reason the US demands those who wish to buy cigarettes and alcohol or serve in the army are 18 or above. Treating gender transition as something less serious than getting a tattoo or going bar-hopping is unhinged. The love-bombing kids may get online when they ‘come out’ as LGBTQ may be thrilling for a moment, but when it ebbs, teens may be overcome by loneliness or believe they made a mistake.

‘My 12yo daughter’s friends and teachers pushed her into wanting to be a boy… thank God lockdown allowed her to escape’

Parents of transgender kids – often the loudest voices against legislation like Mississippi’s – should keep in mind their own rapidly-cycling feelings as teens and young adults. Too many are trying to live vicariously through their own children, and even those who mean well can easily be caught in the web of a persuasive psychiatrist who insists the only way to save their child’s life is to push them through a transition as soon as possible. Individuals who merely don’t conform to gender norms but otherwise get along fine don’t need an operation – as many as 90 percent will outgrow their gender dysphoria. What they need is to be loved by their parents for who they are, not used as an ideological weapon.

Lockdown without end? Extending furlough till the end of September suggests no return to normal in June

Follow RT on

Judging by what’s gone on before, the announcement by UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak that the government’s furlough scheme would last until at least 30 September doesn’t bode well for those who want Covid restrictions to end soon.

Consider the following: When the ‘Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme’ (to give it its official title) was first announced by the UK government on 20 March 2020, it was supposed to last until 31 May. Why did it need to be so long, some people asked, if we were only going to lock down for three weeks to ‘flatten the curve’?

Since then we’ve seen the same pattern, repeatedly. The extension of furlough, beyond the dates when politicians and talking heads have told us restrictions would be due to end, has been an excellent guide to what really is going to happen.

Also on rt.com
Britain to extend government furlough scheme till end of October

A far better guide in fact than Inside the Tent ‘pundits’ who told us to dismiss the ‘conspiracy theorists’ and who have assured us since last spring that life would soon be returning to normal.

Sunak’s extension, beyond the initial three months until October 2020, and announced on 12 May, was the strongest hint possible that some restrictions were still planned by the government over the summer of 2020, and so it proved. Businesses were allowed to reopen but only with social distancing restrictions and other ‘Covid-secure’ measures which greatly reduced their profitability. In addition, in a further move away from the ‘old normal’, mandatory masks for shoppers were introduced in July, at a time when almost no one was dying of Covid.

In the autumn, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson had talked of life being ‘back to normal by Christmas’, the chancellor extended furlough again, and then in mid-December he announced the scheme would last until the end of April. That really was the big giveaway – in more ways than one. Anyone who had been paying close attention to how it all worked knew then that a second national lockdown – a long one – was inevitable after Christmas. But again, their predictions – based on a good study of the form book – were dismissed as ‘conspiracy theories’.

The fact Sunak was extending furlough until after Easter didn’t mean that another lockdown was already planned, of course not – merely that he knew the recovery would take some time, the smart alecs told us. And what happened? On 4 January, exactly as I had predicted on 18 December, Johnson went on TV to announce another lockdown.

Boris Johnson, 4th Jan 2021 :’We urged people to act responsibly over Christmas but while most did, alas, a minority didn’t, so unfortunately we have no option but to lock you all down again until the spring. ‘ The speech will have already been written. https://t.co/jRx5wcfju8

— Neil Clark (@NeilClark66) December 18, 2020

This one would begin to be eased in February we were told. But surprise, surprise, it wasn’t. All we got was a road map for lifting restrictions. A road map for tortoises, that is. Johnson cited 21 June as the earliest date for all restrictions to be lifted (though it was still unclear about masks). But this week’s news on the furlough front indicates that it’s highly unlikely that the ‘old normal’ we enjoyed up to March 2020 will be here by 22 June.

Had Sunak extended furlough till the end of July, it might still be argued the government was serious about opening up the country fully by mid-summer. But setting the end date to 30 September should set everyone’s alarm bells ringing very loudly.

By the end of the third quarter of the year we’ll soon be heading into another flu season. If restrictions aren’t fully lifted in midsummer do we really expect them to be scrapped once we hit autumn and start getting the usual headlines about the NHS being ‘unable to cope’ in the months ahead?

Note too that the Coronavirus Act – which grants the government emergency powers – is due to expire at the end of March, and will need Parliamentary approval for extension. We know a sizable number of Tory MPs want restrictions to end sooner rather than later, but what better way is there to get the act renewed for another six months than to tie it to furlough? Then, any MPs who voted against would also be voting for furlough to end – and potentially for millions of Britons to lose their jobs.

The UK government has set MPs a trap from which even Harry Houdini would find it hard to escape. The long lockdowns have done great harm to the country (the economic cost has been calculated as £2.4bn a day), but extending furlough until the autumn and not reopening fully will only increase the damage.

So why is the government doing all this? The only logical explanation is that under the smokescreen of fighting a virus, they are engineering a radical restructuring of the economy and society. A ‘Great Reset’ in fact. And the ‘Great Reset’ (copyright, World Economic Forum), is about constructing a permanent ‘New Normal’ , not going back to the old normal of early 2020. ‘Build Back Better’, the slogan of the ‘Great Reset’, repeated ad nauseum by its devotees, implies that there needs to be quite a bit of controlled demolition in the first place, and that hasn’t yet been completed. So lockdown continues. Repeat and rinse, into 2022.

Also on rt.com
As Boris Johnson announces Britain’s ‘great reset’, were the Covid ‘conspiracy theorists’ right all along?

If the government really was ‘following the science’ and being led by the data, they would actually be bringing the dates in the road map forward, not indicating, by the extension of furlough, that restrictions will still be here in September. The Daily Telegraph reported earlier this week that deaths have fallen weeks ahead of the modelling estimates on which the ‘road map’ was based, while the latest official figures today show a sustained drop in ‘cases’, so defined, in all four countries of the UK. Back in January, Health Secretary Matt Hancock told the Spectator magazine that once the ‘vulnerable’ had been vaccinated it would be time to ‘Cry freedom!’.

But we’ve already had more than 20m Brits vaccinated – and around 90% of the over-80s – yet we are still more locked down than the vast majority of other countries.

The extension of the ‘Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme’ until October strongly suggests that unless there is major public and business pushback, there will be no return to normality by then, regardless of how vaccination rates go and how low case/death numbers fall. And then what?

It is striking that not only Boris Johnson, but other ministers too have failed to rule out a fourth national lockdown for next winter, probably before Christmas – and likely to be billed once again as necessary to ‘protect the NHS’. On 15 February Johnson, after being asked if he could guarantee there’d be no more lockdowns, replied: “No, I can’t give that guarantee, of course not.”

A new poll has found that most people in the UK will miss some aspects of lockdown. Are they serious? After more than a year cooped up, we should embrace freedom – especially as it will present unique opportunities for change.

I don’t mean to be rude, but if lockdown really is your idea of ‘fun’, maybe, just maybe, when it’s finally all over, you need to get a life?

Some people like to be indoors. Some people are at their absolute happiest alone on their own sofa with the TV remote control in one hand and a fat slice of microwave pizza in the other. How else can we explain the YouGov survey that found 55 percent of Brits are going to miss some elements of lockdown?

But what happens when you’ve seen everything Netflix and HBO and Disney+ have to offer?

You might have to turn to the BBC or ITV or, God forbid, sit through the often unhinged hysteria on CNN (man, oh man, they’re STILL obsessing over Donald Trump).

But that won’t last long, either. There’s never anything on. I’ve had a flick through myself already. Many times. This has been going on, pretty much, for a year now after all.

I get it, at least a little bit. Sometimes the virus and the lockdown can be the perfect excuse to get out of something that you simply didn’t want to do. Maybe you don’t much like the weekly visit to Auntie Dot in the care home, on account of her flatulence and extreme right-wing views. Okay.

Work, too. Not having to go to the office and actually physically engage with some of those people that really stress you out. Especially the bosses, although those guys did give you the best lockdown dreams you’ve ever had – the ones where you’re Vlad the Impaler and you get to see them slowly sink to the bottom of a tall spike to join their own entrails. Or is that just me?

Not seeing folk that you truly dislike – even hate – can be truly liberating.

Lockdown Britain turning into East Germany? No, in many ways it’s worse than the old DDR. Believe me… I was there

At some point, though, my ever-fattening friends, you have to emerge blinking and staggering out into the light. The human species wasn’t built to stay forever in a cave, and even bats don’t live there on their own; they gather by the tens of thousands. So, it’s not that safe in there, particularly when you think about all that chat about bats being where this new coronavirus came from in the first place…

Just like bats, even when humans actually did live in caves, we didn’t live alone. The human species is tribal; cities are merely an extension of what we already were anyway. We just added glass and concrete and electricity cables and WiFi and flushing toilets to something for which we already felt the need.

Maybe the lockdown, for many people, has been a wake-up call. So, if you really are going to miss it, if you genuinely do want to spend your entire life alone on that sofa… well, maybe you need to do a little bit of a reassessment.

When all this is over, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to build something new. Go and join a club. Play poker. Play golf. Bowls. Tennis. Whatever, it doesn’t actually matter what you choose… you just need other members of the human tribe to do it alongside you. Why not try yoga? I’ve been able to do it during lockdown, and I’m utterly crap. But it’s fun and it’s approximately four bendy females to every non-bendy sweaty male – I like those odds, though I’m sure my lady classmates simply don’t even notice me (and really don’t care). I plan to persuade the owners to open a bar area, when it’s allowed.

As lockdown kills the high street and forces everyone online, rebellious youth culture is dying a slow death

The ending of lockdown is, I am starting to genuinely believe, going to be a wake-up call to the whole world. Let me share a little anecdote, if I may. Lucky me, I live mostly in Barcelona. And a week or two into the first lockdown last spring, I actually sneaked up to one of the highest spots in town – a place called Montjuic.

It’s where most of the facilities for the 1992 Olympics are, including the swimming pools, which are open to the public. It’s a real joy to pretend you’re an Olympic diver as you belly flop into the water with the entire cityscape as your backdrop. The Mediterranean is on one side, the mountains on the other. You should try it, when you’re allowed to fly here.

Anyway, there were no cars on the road. No cruise or container ships leaving port spewing black smoke. There were no aircraft in the sky. I have been up there countless times but this time, I swear, it was like a punch to the solar plexus. Clean air, almost pure oxygen, filled my lungs and hit my blood stream. The sky was a crisp blue I have simply never seen before; the view seemed endless all the way up to the Costa Brava and on into France.

And it was silent, utterly silent, aside from the birdsong, which was so loud I almost wanted to turn the sweeping and diving little buggers down.

It was, to me, utterly indisputable that this is what the world is supposed to look like when we’re not spewing CO2 into the atmosphere. I hadn’t given it all that much thought before; climate change had always been someone else’s problem. But now it feels different, more imperative.

As Lockdown 3.0 descends on Britain, the time for reason and argument is over. Only dissent will save us now

And this was after only two or three weeks of emission control. In no time at all, the Earth was already dusting herself off and cleaning herself up.

Anyway, my point. In November, world leaders will meet in Glasgow for the latest climate change summit. And my guess is many of those stuffy old guys and boring old girls who rule over us and have the power to actually make change might have noticed this too. There’s no doubt that the pandemic will influence those discussions. There will be an urgency that would not have seemed so clear if 2020 and 2021 had been years like any others.

Governments across the world have stumbled and, in Boris Johnson’s case, mumbled and bumbled, all the way through this Covid-19 crisis. But, guess what? Pretty soon, we will be free of it. Free and clear; the virus will be held back in the same way flu has been for ages. We’re winning. No, we have already won. We’re just waiting for the final whistle.

We will be free to walk in the sunshine and see friends and family – enemies too. Won’t it be fun to actually punch one of these guys with a smile? The pandemic could prove to be the slap in the face we all needed, individually, and as a species. So, turn the TV off and start living, because there’s absolutely no excuse, really, for not wanting lockdown to end.

Wokeism has lost its mind when rape, pedophilia and murder are celebrated in ‘Lolita’ and Dr. Seuss is banned

Follow RT on

Hypocrisy is coming to define the woke world as books that tout violence and sexual perversities, like Vladimir Nabokov’s ‘Lolita’, remain on the shelves, while alleged racially offensive kids’ works attract the censors.

It seems like just yesterday that the Western world was preaching to one billion Muslims that nothing would stop its cartoonists from scribbling caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed, even though such an act is strictly forbidden by the Koran.

“Freedom of speech” was the battle cry heard throughout the land, soon to be replaced by “Je suis Charlie,” following a deadly attack at the offices of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that published the forbidden caricatures.

Today, those very same Western defenders of artistic expression and free thought have cowered before the insane woke posse, declaring six Dr. Seuss illustration books guilty of “portray[ing] people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” according to the website of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

Curious as to what the latest fuss was about, I decided to watch an audio version of one of these racist tracts, entitled If I Ran the Zoo (1950), after the children had gone to bed, of course. Without giving away the plot – especially since Dr. Seuss books are now selling like hotcakes, the predictable consequence of censorship – the story is centered on young Gerald McGrew who dreams of ways he would change the zoo.

McGrew sets off on an adventure around the world to bring back the exotic wild beasts of Dr. Seuss’s hyperactive imagination. The first destination takes him to some Asian land, where we see a wild animal inside of a bamboo cage being carried aloft by three smiling Oriental-looking males. Perhaps the most offensive part of the scene shows young McGrew posing proudly atop the cage with a rifle at his side.

The next stop on this young white boy’s racist romp is to the “African island of Yerka to bring back a tizzle-topped Tufted Mazurka.” Once again, McGrew is being assisted in his hunt by the local inhabitants, in this case two African natives sporting native dress. The boy even travels as far as Russia in search of the ‘Russian Palooski’, an exotic bird “whose headski is redski and belly is blueski.” A Cossack-looking guy complete with a gun, massive beard and an oversized fur cap is used to represent the Russians.

BBC pedophile exposé ignores real victims, triggers social-media firestorm

The question I found myself asking after perusing this one sample of prohibited Seuss contraband is ‘when exactly did we become such unbearable prudes?’ I’m old enough to remember the day when mentioning the racial differences between people was acceptable across the social and political spectrum.

In 1973, by way of example, then-Governor of California Ronald Reagan was treated to a ferocious celebrity roast where the legendary comic Don Rickles poked fun at everyone – blacks, whites, even his own Jewish ethnicity. The audience roared in laughter and asked for more.

Looking back on those less anxious days, America was a far happier and healthier place, willing to acknowledge – and even laugh – at the differences that separated its many diverse inhabitants. Indeed, it seems hard to imagine the survival of a fiercely multicultural society that is not allowed to mention its differences.

Here’s a wild idea: What if we let people write whatever books they want, then let people decide what books they want to read, and then let those people read those books, and just leave it at that?

— Alexandra DeSanctis (@xan_desanctis) March 3, 2021

Aside from intellectual immaturity, however, there is something really rotten at the heart of this new Dark Age that has settled upon the American mind, and that is the sheer hypocrisy of it all. That realization hit me after reading a commentary in the New York Times on Vladimir Nabokov’s tour de force 1955 novel, Lolita, and how it has been able to avoid the cancel culture inquisition for so long.

The author, Emily Mortimer, explains how readers could sympathize with the protagonist pedophile, Humbert Humbert, who is “hilariously self-aware and funny.” But surely it must take more than just a savage wit to excuse the most heinous of criminal acts, right? From here, Mortimer presents a curious case as to why the “moral police” have not come after Lolita with the same intensity as other comparably benign works, like Gone with the Wind, Merchant of Venice and Huckleberry Finn.

“Lolita makes us see with the eyes of a man who is a pedophile, a rapist and a murderer, and that’s I think the essential reason it’s escaped … the moral police in the 60 years since it’s been published,” she explains. Yet that explanation falls short of the mark. After all, other books like Gone with the Wind also teach about a different sort of crime, that of racism, albeit unintentionally through the prism of a historical novel. Yet such books are now on the endangered species list. In any case, Mortimer wraps up her argument with a conclusion that almost knocked me clean out of my chair.

“There is no escaping his awfulness, but we get inside his head and his heart,” Mortimer writes. “We end up not only empathizing with but also loving a murderer and the rapist of a young girl. And it feels really good. It feels like a deep relief. It feels exhilarating and paradoxically cleansing.”

The curious case of Dr. Seuss shows that it’s getting ever more confusing deciding what’s racist – and what’s not – in the arts

There are some things you just can’t un-read.

That incredible statement goes a long way toward explaining the inherent problem with cancel culture, and that is its dangerous double standards. On the one hand, behaving like a local chapter of the Taliban, the woke mob is demanding the elimination of any works of art – even historic monuments in the public square – that have the slightest connection to “racism.” Even Coca-Cola is hectoring people to “be less white.” On the other hand, we are allowing our children to be led astray by the radical progressive teachings that have come to dominate Western academia and curriculum.

Consider this paradox: at a time when US book publishers are handwringing over a cartoon image of Chinese and African tribesmen appearing inside of a Dr. Seuss book, public libraries are hosting Drag Queen Story Hour for young children. Is anyone questioning the contents of the books that the queens are reading, and what effect they may have on the minds of their highly impressionable audiences? Yes, some people do, but they run the risk of being banned from their social media platforms as a result of their efforts.

Or what about the transgender movement, which has directed much of its controversial message at the youth? Already a number of children and adolescents who made the fateful decision to “transition” to the opposite sex are waking up to the reality that they have made a terrible mistake. But once a person undergoes such an operation, complete with hormonal therapy, it is very difficult to go back.

So where are the woke warriors to make sure these children are not led astray at the most confusing time of their life? Not only are they not to be found, but even the books that could have helped them make the right decision are being banned. Last month, for example, Amazon dropped a book by conservative scholar Ryan T. Anderson, When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment, which discussed the many pitfalls of “transitioning” from one sex to another.

So, while the woke warriors are worried that some people may feel “hurt” by some cartoon sketches in a Dr. Seuss book, thousands of children are being subjected to real and irreversible physical harm, the sort described by the literary titan Vladimir Nabokov. And as Joe Biden rammed through an executive order giving transgender women (ie biological males) the right to compete in female sports, as well as use the bathroom and changing facility that corresponds to their “sexual identity,” the harm against women and children promises to continue.

The fact that these issues – far more relevant than the myth of ‘systemic racism’ in America – are being met with a screaming silence by the radical progressives proves they are more interested in the political value of their work as opposed to any selfless humanitarianism. If they were, there’d be a corresponding #MeToo and Child Lives Matter movements for the troubled youth.

As the master of the prose Vladimir Nabokov would have said with regard to this mounting American tragedy, “Look at this tangle of thorns.”

Biden administration wastes no time in provoking Russia with more military aid to Ukraine

Follow RT on

Daniel Kovalik teaches International Human Rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and is author of the recently-released No More War: How the West Violates International Law by Using “Humanitarian” Intervention to Advance Economic and Strategic Interests.

The US Defense Department has announced that it would be appropriating an additional $125 million of “lethal” aid to Ukraine, adding to the over $2 billon of such aid the US has provided the country since the coup of 2014.

As the Defense Department explained earlier this week, in addition to two armed patrol boats, “the package also includes capabilities to enhance the lethality, command and control, and situational awareness of Ukraine’s forces through the provision of additional counter-artillery radars and tactical equipment; continued support for a satellite imagery and analysis capability; and equipment to support military medical treatment and combat evacuation procedures.”

The continued arming of the Ukrainian forces is of great concern for a few reasons. First, the government in Kiev is involved in a brutal war against Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the Donbass region of the country.  So far, this war has cost the lives of over 13,200 Ukrainians, and, according to Amnesty International, has been marked by torture, enforced disappearances, illegal detention in secret prisons and other serious human rights abuses.  For the US to provide aid with the explicit purpose of “enhancing the lethality” of the Ukrainian armed forces is greatly alarming in such circumstances.

In addition, what few in the mainstream press have been willing to discuss is that the Azov Battalion – a significant element of the Ukrainian armed forces – is openly neo-Nazi in its philosophy and tactics. The beloved former Uruguayan President Jose Mujica was quoted as saying that it is not even correct to call this battalion “neo-Nazis”; rather, they are straight-up “Nazis.”

Seven years after Maidan divided country, Ukraine intensifies shelling of Donbass to sound of deafening silence from Western media

And, after the Maidan coup in 2014, these Nazis became an integral part of the Ukrainian armed forces.  As an article in the Nation explains,

“Post-Maidan Ukraine is the world’s only nation to have a neo-Nazi formation in its armed forces. The Azov Battalion was initially formed out of the neo-Nazi gang Patriot of Ukraine. Andriy Biletsky, the gang’s leader who became Azov’s commander, once wrote that Ukraine’s mission is to ‘lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade…against the Semite-led Untermenschen.’ …In the fall of 2014, Azov – which is accused of human-rights abuses, including torture, by Human Rights Watch and the United Nations – was incorporated into Ukraine’s National Guard.”

As the Nation further explains, the Azov Battalion is not merely Nazi in theory, but also in practice, and that in present-day Ukraine, “there are neo-Nazi pogroms against the Roma, rampant attacks on feminists and LGBT groups, book bans, and state-sponsored glorification of Nazi collaborators.”

It is important to note that the US Defense Department makes it clear that, in addition to the $125 million already being allocated to Ukraine, another $150 million is there to be released under certain conditions, and purging the neo-Nazi’s from the ranks of Ukraine’s armed forces is tellingly NOT one of them.

Lest there be any doubt about the US’ views on the rise of neo-Nazis in Ukraine, in December of 2020, the US and Ukraine were the only two nations in the world to vote against a UN General Assembly Resolution which called for “‘combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance. This was done as they felt the resolution could be used to target the Ukrainian government and the U.S. continued funding of it.”

US touts patrol boats unwanted by its own Navy in $125 million package of ‘lethal aid’ to Ukraine

Another revealing action was President Biden’s appointment of Victoria Nuland as his “Under Secretary for Political Affairs, effectively the third-ranking U.S. diplomat.”  This is significant given that Nuland, as revealed in recordings of conversations she had on the subject while serving as President Obama’s assistant secretary of state, was instrumental in the formation of the post-Maidan government in Ukraine – a government openly hostile toward Russia.

All of this taken together will surely cause great alarm in the Kremlin as to President Biden’s intentions toward Russia, and will further erode relations between the US and Russia at a time when the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists is already sounding the alarm about the increasing risk of nuclear war between these nations.

Indeed, the Defense Department statement about the most recent round of aid to Ukraine makes it clear that Russia should be alarmed by the Biden Administration’s posture toward it.

Thus, as the Defense Department explained in its press release of March 1, 2021, one of the purposes of this “lethal aid” is “to improve [Ukraine’s] interoperability with NATO.” The idea of Ukraine – a former Soviet Republic on Russia’s border – being brought even further into the embrace of NATO is an openly provocative act, and Russia will surely see it that way, just as the US would feel provoked if Russia were actively trying to bring Mexico into a military alliance.

It cannot be understated how dangerous President Biden’s moves in regard to Ukraine are, especially from the point of view of Russia. In the midst of a global pandemic, and before providing any of his promised assistance to the American people to weather this pandemic, Biden has decided to provide “lethal aid” to a country on Russia’s borders which is not only adversarial toward Russia, but which also contains neo-Nazi elements.

Russia still suffers from the painful memories and scars of the Nazi invasion of its territory and the loss of millions of souls in defeating Nazi Germany during WWII. That Biden is prioritizing deadly assistance to Ukraine at this time sends an unequivocal message to Russia that peace and diplomacy are not in the offing, and that Russia must remain in a defensive posture.

In my view, this is a tragic beginning to the presidency of Joseph Biden as it belies his promises of a more diplomatic United States on the world stage.

Biden has boxed himself into a corner on Iran, but the solution is simple… rejoin the nuclear deal with no preconditions

Follow RT on

Iran will not yield to the Biden administration’s unrealistic and unreasonable demands for the US to rejoin the nuclear agreement. So the president is going to have to show some pragmatism and flexibility to move things forward.

The US Senate confirmation hearings for President Joe Biden’s nominee for the position of deputy secretary of state, Wendy Sherman, offer interesting insights into the quandary facing the Biden administration in fulfilling a campaign pledge to rejoin the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, better known as the Iran nuclear agreement).

While a vote along strict party lines would assure her of confirmation, the fact is Sherman faces an uphill fight given her prior role in negotiating the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, and the fact that many senior Democrats, including Senator Bob Menendez, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Services Committee overseeing her hearing, are vehemently opposed to the deal.

Menendez’s arguments against the Iran nuclear deal, initially articulated during a floor speech in May 2015, have not changed over time. Simply put, he does not trust Iran to comply with the deal, and is fearful of any movement toward rejoining the agreement that would keep Congress out of the loop.

His position, and that of many others, is that any nuclear deal with Iran must go beyond the conditions imposed under the existing agreement, lengthening the time during which Iran would be constrained, and increasing the severity of the restrictions imposed. He also believes that there can be no agreement on Iran’s nuclear program that does not consider its ballistic missile capabilities and so-called “malign” activities in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, among others.

Blinken’s vow to avoid ‘costly military interventions’ isn’t worth the paper it’s written on – sanctions cause just as much damage

Menendez’s position is not far removed from that of President Biden. While the public perception is that candidate Joe Biden made a straightforward campaign pledge to rejoin the Iran nuclear agreement if elected, the reality is somewhat different. In a September 2020 op-ed penned for CNN, Biden outlined a course of action that reflects the thinking of his administration when it comes to Iran’s nuclear program. “I will offer Tehran a credible path back to diplomacy,” Biden noted then. “If Iran returns to strict compliance with the nuclear deal, the United States would rejoin the agreement as a starting point for follow-on negotiations. With our allies, we will work to strengthen and extend the nuclear deal’s provisions, while also addressing other issues of concern.”

As such, it should not have come as any surprise when Sherman, one of the key negotiators of the Iran nuclear agreement, failed to rise in defense of the document she helped create during her hearing. Rather, Sherman seemed to morph into a mini-Menendez, echoing his concerns in a statement that could have been written by the senator himself. “I remain clear-eyed about the threat that Iran poses to our interests and those of our allies,” Sherman said.“I would note that 2021 is not 2015, when the deal was agreed, nor 2016, when it was implemented. The facts on the ground have changed, the geopolitics of the region have changed, and the way forward must similarly change.”

Sherman indicated that, if confirmed, she would take a new approach toward any future negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. She noted that she did not anticipate the Biden administration replicating the negotiating strategy of the Obama administration, adding that any agreement would “be decided on the merits of where we are today, not nostalgia for what might have been.”

While Sherman’s verbal gymnastics may very well win her confirmation, adding her voice to a growing chorus of bi-partisan demands for substantive changes in the scope and scale of the Iran nuclear agreement as a precondition for the US rejoining does not alter the fact that the Biden administration is setting itself up for failure. By caving into domestic pressure to make demands that are as unrealistic as they are unreasonable, the Biden administration is setting the same trap for itself as the Obama administration.

Prior to 2014, the Obama administration had insisted on Iran’s total abandonment of nuclear enrichment as a precondition for the lifting of sanctions. Ultimately, Iran refused to yield, while actually expanding the size and capabilities of its indigenous enrichment capability.

Having boxed itself into a corner where the only path out was an unwinnable war that would devastate the Middle East and gut the global economy, the Obama administration capitulated on its demands of zero enrichment, agreeing to permit Iran to engage in limited enrichment activity which would be subjected to restrictions that would ease and eventually expire over time. This was the JCPOA, which Sherman helped negotiate.

Bad timing: Iran rejects EU & US offer to hold direct talks on reviving 2015 nuclear deal

The Biden administration appears to be making a similar “red line”-based argument when it comes to rejoining the agreement. Either Iran agrees to preconditions regarding the JCPOA’s de facto renegotiation – which would include greater restrictions on its nuclear program spread out over a longer period, limits on its ballistic missile program, and restraint when it comes to support for its regional allies – or no deal.

The outcome of this approach is already known – no deal. A Biden administration offer to join Iran, together with the other parties to the JCPOA, in direct talks was rejected by Iran. Far from a blanket rejection, however, the Iranian decision was because the US would not provide assurances that the talks would be limited to the JCPOA. Iran has made it clear that it is ready to engage in discussions concerning the unconditional return to the JCPOA by the US, inclusive of the lifting of all sanctions. However, Iran feared that the Biden administration and its European allies would use any formal meeting as a vehicle for redefining the conditions for the US rejoining the JCPOA, thereby providing legitimacy to these conditions. The Biden administration offer was a trap, one which was identified beforehand by Iran and disarmed.

Iran was able to outmaneuver another Biden administration effort to define the terms of America’s return to the JCPOA, this time through an indirect approach made through the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors. The US, together with the UK, France and Germany, had put forward a resolution to the IAEA Board of Governors which was very critical of Iran. The proposed resolution would have echoed the concerns expressed by the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi in a statement made to the Board of Governors.

If the US is really worried about a nuclear Iran, it would go back to JCPOA. But nukes are not at the core here

Grossi highlighted his concerns over Iran’s decision to stop its implementation of the provisions of the Additional Protocol and Modified code 3.1 of the subsidiary arrangements to the Safeguards Agreement, conditions it had voluntarily agreed to comply with as part of the JCPOA, as well as its failure to date to provide a credible explanation for the presence of multiple uranium particles of anthropogenic origin, including isotopically altered particles, detected by IAEA inspectors at several locations across the country.

Left unstated, however, was that without exception, every issue raised by Grossi would have been dealt with by the IAEA and Iran within the framework of a fully functioning JCPOA. But by Grossi giving voice to these concerns outside that framework, Iran believed he was politicizing what otherwise were straightforward technical issues.

Moreover, with the threat of these issues being brought before the IAEA Board of Governors in the form of a resolution, Tehran feared a repeat of a precedent set by the US in 2005-2006, where it was able to transform technical concerns over Iranian compliance into a political issue that eventually saw the Iran nuclear file transferred away from the IAEA Board of Governors to the UN Security Council.

Indeed, one of Iran’s major demands as part of the JCPOA was to have its file transferred out of the Security Council and back to the IAEA Board of Governors. Facing the repeat of history, Iran let it be known that if the IAEA Board of Governors were to take up this US-backed resolution, it would cease all cooperation with the IAEA on JCPOA-related activity, in effect killing the agreement. Yielding to this reality, the UK, France, and Germany withdrew their support for the US resolution.

As things currently stand, the IAEA and Iran have an agreement in place to keep the infrastructure that serves as the framework for inspection-based compliance verification of the JCPOA intact, even if actual inspections are not occurring. Iran has committed to instantly returning to full compliance with its obligations under the JCPOA once all sanctions are lifted. The quickest way for this to happen would be the unconditional return of the US to the JCPOA. The IAEA-Iranian agreement, however, comes with a three-month deadline, after which Iran will permanently scrap the frozen inspection framework. Iran has made it clear that it will not yield on its demands.

The Biden administration has, like the Obama administration before it, boxed itself into a corner by setting unrealistic preconditions. Sherman’s confirmation hearing underscored the reality that any effort to rejoin the JCPOA “as is” will be vehemently opposed by Congress. In the end, the Biden administration is left with two choices – stand its ground and see the JCPOA collapse and the probability of conflict with Iran increase, or issue an executive order that has the US rejoining the JCPOA without preconditions. These are the “facts on the ground,” and no amount of “nostalgia” can change them.

Macron said Covid-19 jabs would be optional… so a Europe-wide vaccine passport should be a reason for France to leave the EU

Follow RT on

By Rachel Marsden, columnist, political strategist and host of an independently produced French-language program that airs on Sputnik France. Her website can be found at rachelmarsden.com

It’s unacceptable that the EU is pushing big brother authoritarianism on its member states via vaccine passports. French President Emmanuel Macron should stay true to his word and take a stand against this nanny statism.

After all, Macron couldn’t have been more clear when he said in a national address last November that Covid-19 vaccines would not be mandatory. And that’s exactly as it should be.

No one should have the right to dictate what substances you inject into your body – and especially not the state. The rights of the collective end where the rights of the individual begin, and that’s precisely with one’s own physical being. If someone is worried about catching Covid-19, then they have every right to get vaccinated in the interests of self-protection, but no one should have any ability to impose it on anyone else.

Vatican says employees who refuse Covid-19 vaccine could lose their jobs

Given the debate over the duration of any Covid-19 antibodies, it’s unclear exactly how often people are going to have to pump any vaccine into their body. Will it be every few months? Once a year?

Nor is it clear exactly how the virus will mutate in future, or how fast Covid-19 could become just another banal seasonal virus floating around out there. For those who are in good health, with no pre-existing medical issues, they may consider the injection of a vaccine to be worse than contending with the virus itself. And they should have every right to make that choice.

Yet we’re now being told that the European Commission will table a vaccine passport concept this month, effectively suppressing individual choice over inoculation. It would be required for travel within the European Union or to avoid quarantine upon arrival.

Some countries have already adapted the concept for use on their own territory in the form of a ‘green pass’ required for access to venues such as gyms, theaters, concert venues, movie theaters, and restaurants. The idea seems to have initially taken hold in Israel, where people have to flash a digital pass showing proof of vaccination everywhere they go in order to have any semblance of a normal life.

— RT (@RT_com) February 9, 2021

Now everywhere from Paris to New York, authorities are considering the idea of people having to show that they’ve taken either the vaccine or, alternatively, proof that they’ve had a giant Q-Tip shoved up their nose within the last three days, and have tested negative for Covid.

Any such banalization of Covid PCR testing as a prerequisite for daily living means that every few days, people would have to line up at a testing facility – possibly for hours, given how relatively few PCR testing facilities exist in some countries – all just to prove that they don’t carry this particular virus. The idea is absolutely absurd. Because what about the next virus that overwhelms hospitals, as French newspaper titles suggested already occurred here in France in 2018, in 2017, in 2016 and in 2015? In fact, it seems like there’s barely a flu season that goes by during which French hospitals aren’t overwhelmed.

And yet, the flu shot has always been optional. Every year here in France and in North America, there’s a massive annual push for everyone to run out and get the seasonal flu shot regardless of personal circumstance or susceptibility. The notion of sacrificing domain over one’s own body – which is about the only thing that we ultimately control in our time on this planet – under the pretext of the greater collective has long been the propaganda imposed on society annually for years, even as some doctors privately advise patients who aren’t at risk not to bother with it.

Once freedom is taken away, it’s rarely ever restored – particularly if the populace has grown resigned, complacent, or indifferent. Covid-19 vaccine passports or territorial green passes could very well lead to more impositions that hijack personal autonomy. Because what exactly is stopping any creeping authoritarianism once states accept that they can force individuals into a system whereby everyday life is impossible unless they jump the hoops and tick the boxes dictated by the state?

Covid-19 is just one virus. But what about next year’s flu? Is that going to be added to the vaccine passport, as well, given that every year it seems to overwhelm hospitals? It’s just too tempting for governments not to throw more bricks onto a foundation like a passport or pass that they’ve already created and that citizens have already accepted, lest they find themselves effectively banned from everything that they used to take for granted in their daily life.

Why are nations imposing Covid lockdowns called democratic, while those setting citizens free are branded authoritarian?

In the extreme, such access passes could slide toward something like China’s digital social credit system, introduced in 2014, that pegs everyday access to things like travel and public sector employment to points earned or lost in relation to professional and personal interactions, court records, financial and physical health.

If the European Commission insists on Covid vaccination passes, then it’s up to Macron to keep his promise to voters and safeguard individual French citizens’ right of personal autonomy. Even if that means pulling France out of the European Union.

Grace VanderWaal – Don’t Assume What You Don’t Know Lyrics

Play this song

[Verse 1]
Drive through the streets with your eyes closed
Trip on a stick where the wind blows
So out of reach but it looks close
Don’t assume what you don’t know

[Verse 2]
You act real hot but you’re still cold
You wanna be rich with a Lambo
So out of reach but it looks so close
Red light but you still go

[Pre-Chorus]
You can walk around the entire world
But you still end up with what you started with first
Spit out money and you offer out lures
Get the girl but it wasn’t the cure

[Chorus]
The television told you if you got up and went
Within 5/6 months you’d be playing Japan
Now you’re in a new world, you don’t havе a friend
Don’t assume what you don’t know

[Post-Chorus]
Know-ow-ow, oh-oh
What you don’t know-ow-ow, oh-oh

[Verse 3]
So you told your ma that you’re gonna be free
You’re gonna be a nеw branch on the Hollywood tree
You leave with a couplе hundred, maybe three
And your high school degree

[Verse 4]
Finally you get an opportunity
They say listen close and only to me
Just sign off your name and creativity
Don’t ya don’t ya wanna be a star?

[Pre-Chorus]
You can walk around the entire world
But you still end up with what you started with first
Spit out money and you offer out lures
Get the girl but it wasn’t the cure

[Chorus]
The television told you if you got up and went
Within 5/6 months you’d be playing Japan
Now you’re in a new world, you don’t havе a friend

Play this song

[Verse 1]
You smile
Your lips beguile
You look impeccable
Cutting through the room like a knife
Sharpened leather fastened tight
Oh so insatiable

[Verse 2]
Such a sight
An apparition holding tight
Never to shy from the scene
Splash of sound
Just a bellow bouncing ’round
There is a quiet to your scream

[Pre-Chorus]
They fall, you rise
It’s here, your time

[Chorus]
The golden restless age
And time won’t turn the page
You’re only passing through a form of you
I look in your eyes and therе’s a rage
And time won’t turn the pagе
It hits you headlong to go it alone

[Verse 3]
See the eyes how they shimmer
And how they shine
It’s only personal
I watch you fall, at breakneck speed
Lie in wait
Aching to feel it all

[Pre-Chorus]
The cause – effect
The line is set

[Chorus]
The golden restless age
And time won’t turn the page
You’re only passing through a form of you
I look in your eyes and there’s a rage
And time won’t turn the page
It hits you headlong to go it alone

Zara Larsson – Famous Lyrics

Play this song

[Verse 1]
You keep coming and going
Keep me on my toes
But don’t rush out the door so soon, so soon
It’s so late in the morning
Maybe sleep till the evening
No overachieving on you, with you

[Pre-Chorus]
Already know how it goes
Already know how it goes
Once you’ve taken off your clothes
There’s no way that you go
When I already know (Already know)
We both already know (We both already know)
It’s no way that you’re leaving, leaving alone

[Chorus]
‘Cause you’re famous for the way
That you’re ten minutes late
Leave your lights on all night and sleep in all day
You’re famous for thе way that
So famous for the way that
So don’t you ever changе
Always pay for a drink
Then twenty minutes later
See you pour it down the sink
No, don’t have to explain that
You’re famous for the way that

[Verse 2]
You keep fussing and moaning
But you’re better admitting
Got no ammunition, do you? Do you?
Baby I don’t even want you (Don’t even want you)
To try to be better
Don’t get any faster, don’t you
Woah

[Pre-Chorus]
Already know how it goes (Know how it goes)
Already know how it goes (Know how it goes)
Once you’ve taken off your clothes
There’s no way that you go
When I already know (Already know)
We both already know (We both already know)

Zara Larsson – FFF Lyrics

Play this song

[Verse 1]
Unusual
We got mutual friends
Is it mutual if I kiss your lips?
If I’m truthful
Then it all depends on your feelings
Crucial, how I’m leanin’ in
‘Cause I’m used to just divin’ in
I could lose you
That’s the consequence of my feelings

[Pre-Chorus]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
‘Cause if it are, it’d be iconic
I wasn’t gonna ask
Afraid of asking you to dance
(But here I am)

[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh
Baby, don’t pretend
That you don’t feel it too
I know you do

[Verse 2]
I wonder
If we cross the line, go under
Love is close the blind
Will be lovers or cut the ties forever?

[Pre-Chorus]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
‘Cause if it are, it’d be iconic
I wasn’t gonna ask
Afraid of asking you to dance
(But here I am)

[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh
Baby, don’t pretend
That you don’t feel it too
I know you do
Oh, baby, here I am
I’m falling for a friend, ooh
Come on, don’t pretend (Don’t pretend that)
That you don’t feel it too
I know you do

[Bridge]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
‘Cause if it are, it’d be iconic
I’ve been pacin’ around
Waiting it out
For just one chance
(So here I am)

[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh
Baby, don’t pretend
That you don’t feel it too
I know you do
Oh, baby, here I am
I’m falling for a friend, ooh

Zara Larsson – Poster Girl Lyrics

Play this song

[Intro]
I’m not a poster girl
Poster girl

[Verse 1]
I was focused on me
My own energy
Trying to negotiate the conflict in myself
It was all going fine
‘Til you changed my mind
Someone call a lifeboat
‘Cause I’m drowning in your vibe

[Pre-Chorus]
I’m melting into you like water
Sleeping without you is getting harder
Melting in like water
Oh my god, oh god, somebody stop her

[Chorus]
Holy smokes
I’m not the poster girl of feelings, but with you I can’t stop
Holy smokes
I want the sweet organic healing on the tip of my tongue

[Verse 2]
All of our friends
Don’t want this to end
I should’ve known better than bringing you around
Feeling the sparks
As you light up the room
I don’t wanna come down off you too soon

I’m changing colors just like autumn
Sleeping without you is getting harder
Melting in like water
Oh my god, my god, somebody stop her

Holy smokes
I want the sweet organic healing on the tip of my tongue

Hopefully I don’t spend it all on percocets again (Spend it all on percocets again)

Didn’t I say not to mention us?
Fuck it, we slidin’, ’cause I’m tired of tellin’ you that
Fuck all the opps, why the fuck is they claimin’ the block where them niggas don’t ever be at?
Throwin’ up L’s for twin ‘nem, I’m droppin’ the rakes
And you know that I kept me a strap
Slept on the floor at my auntie crib
Under the pillow, that’s where my little Wesson was at
I told my shawty “Stop woofin’ with niggas on Facebook”
I taught you better than that
He say he ridin’ with him ’til they switch
Start twitchin’, that bitch got him pedalin’ back
Say he gon’ do some, what?
Them hitters, I keep a few in the cut
Bro got the low on the party, we go end it early
Come through and start shootin’ it up
Fonem keep eatin’ them X pills like candy
He just keep chewin’ them up
I signed a deal but still ride on the block
Everyday, I ain’t been to the stu’ in a month
Nah, we ain’t Crips, but we lurkin’ for blood
Tryna turn their whole crew into runts
So, bitch, when they shoot, better duck
If you lackin’, then you out of luck, gang, gang

YNW Melly – Thugged Out Lyrics

Play this song

[Chorus: YNW Melly]
I don’t know what you might think
But this is the life I chose
And this is the life for me, ’cause, baby, I’m a thug
Thugged out, I’m thugged out, I’m thugged out
Lil’ baby, I’m a thug, I’m thugged out, no drugs now
I’m thugged out, lil’ baby, I’m a thug

[Verse 1: YNW Melly]
Come in the booth and bring me some liquor
Turned up on the trap with a young nigga, yeah, yeah
Your nigga young, nigga, what? Hold up, beg your pardon?
Bitch, I’ve been thuggin’ ever, ever since Gifford Gardens
I’ve been the hardest, I’ma go that way regardless
Young nigga world the right way and all my niggas heartless
We aim that pistol at whoever say, “It’s ending”
We some real niggas, we got fans, but we ain’t friendly
Give me them Benjamins, give me them racks
Give me the Benjamins, give me them racks
Fucked that lil’ bitch inside her white Giuseppe, uh, uh, them match
Her fleece in her shoes, I just got some all-pink Timberlands for you, ah

[Chorus: YNW Melly & Kodak Black]
I don’t know what you might think (when I’m thuggin’, baby)
But this is the life I chose
And this is the life for me, (been in love with thuggin’, baby) ’cause, baby, I’m a thug

[Verse 2: Kodak Black & YNW Melly]
Oh, woah, (I’m only happy when I’m thuggin’, baby) oh, so you can’t get no love
Baby, baby, Free Melly, baby, baby
Free Melly, I’m in the same old boat
I’ma need some dope, I slide the C.O. a note
I got a few niggas who hidin’ in PC
‘Cause they already knowin’ it’s up when they see me
Speakin’ sign language to my brother
Told him to make me another cutter, my mind in the gutter
I ain’t no slime, but I fuck with YNW
Thugged out the greater, caught eleven hundred cases
I can’t guarantee you safety, ’cause shit could go down, baby
Yeah, I’m a thug, shootout by the club
Niggas be knowin’ what’s up, I write this sniper shit in blood
Talkin’ ’bout met a [? 2:14], sayin’ I’m gettin’ niggas styled in prison
Keepin’ it real with niggas behind the fences
Don’t know ’bout you, this how I’m livin’, no
I be tryin’ to blitz even on the visit floor
Yeah, they call me Kodak, this ain’t no image, though
My thug just ride the wave, he had them people scared to be ’round us
This the only life for me, so I don’t care what the hell you think ’bout it
‘Cause, baby, I’m a thug

[Chorus: YNW Melly]
I don’t know what you might think
But this is the life I chose
And this is the life for me, ’cause, baby, I’m a thug
Thugged out, I’m thugged out, I’m thugged out

I’m thugged out, lil’ baby, I’m a thug

Tory Lanez – And This Is Just the Intro Lyrics

Play this song

[Verse 1]
I hope you find somebody more toxic
And y’all go through way more arguments than we did
Y’all go through way more arguments than needed
You better give him the same fucking treatment
I know it’s just the intro and this shit get deep, but
I’ve got my reasons
I put my work in it, wasn’t worth it
My stresses turned you to the person for somebody else
I made you worth it for somebody else
I endured all of your flaws ’til I broke through all the walls of your guard
Now you’re perfect for somebody else
I’m ‘bout to call her, bruh
I know she’s somewhere with a good guy, no
She’s out with a guy who push a pretty penny
Her friend just let me know she say he gets more paper than me, yeah (Damn)
There goes my ego
This shit is weak though
My heart is cold as shit, it’s bricked
My shit is Shaq at the free-throw
Tryna get you back with all these cheap hoes
And you don’t even peep though
I let you take ’til there was nothing left of me
Seen it all ’til there was nothing left to see
I know she would leave me, what you telling me?
‘Cause when it’s said and done, all I got is these melodies
You wasn’t there when I was selling CDs
Juggin’ at the TD, I was making CCs
Money comin’ out, I’m watchin’ it in 3D
You told me I’d be nothing, now I’m on the TV
Fast forward, couple years later, see me, yeah
Come and see me, yeah
Come and see me, bitch
Car futuristic, should’ve come with three seats
Took the last feedback, it don’t come with TVs
I stopped wearin’ Chrome Hearts and AMIRI jeans
Gettin’ too much money and it’s bustin’ out the seams
Shawty, don’t act like I don’t meet you on the scene
I only slept on you ‘cause you started sellin’ dreams
Oh my God, I don’t even know, I’m so ashamed right now

[Verse 2]
She be fuckin’ rich niggas since nineteen (Nineteen)
No money inside her bags, just drugs and Maybelline
Seems like money’s got you doing anything
Anything, anything
Servin’ looks, you deaded me all for the finer things
Fuck me good and then you telling me all kinda things
It’s like money’s got you doing different type of things
Honestly, like I don’t know why I did that, but I did, yeah
Girl, I heard you fucked that nigga in some shit I bought you
It hurts to know that that’s some different shit I taught you, oh
You left me for someone that was icy
With all that ice, don’t you forget

[Chorus]
You gotta come and see me, come and see me, yeah
Come and see me, come and see me, yeah
If it’s on the ‘Gram, on the TV, yeah
Gonna see me, gonna see me, yeah
Come and see me, come and see me, yeah
Come and see me, come and see me, yeah
If it’s on the ‘Gram, on the TV, yeah
Gonna see me, gonna see me, yeah

[Verse 3]
What’s it in for? I’m toxic, you know it (You know it)
Whatever your friends say, I’m not shit, and you know it (You know it)
She hopped in my double-R, she’d rather cry tears in the stars
And she knows them other guys in the double-R, ain’t like ours
Ain’t doing it like us
Movie is playin’ and they ain’t doing it like us
Maybe I’m toxic, maybe I’m not shit
You wanna fuss and fight for some other option
Liquor, I’m gone
Sip, sippin’ ’til I get depressed in this bitch
Then I’ma call you right up on the flip
Fifty reasons why your nigga ain’t shit
Fuck them niggas if I’m not at the top
I go crazy, I’ma make this shit hot
DM your nigga, he blow up your spot
Fuck up the relationship that you got
Fucked it up and now I’m calling you mine
There’s no real intention of making you mine
I just don’t wanna see you with no one else
Like I’m the only one allowed to move on
(I told you)
I’m a fuck boy for sayin’ that shit, girl, I know it
I don’t deserve you for playin’ that like that, I know it
But through these toxic eyes, I see potential
Took advantage of the fact

Gonna see me, gonna see me

[Outro]
Want me call, don’t you? Don’t you?
Every time that I see you, every time that I see you
You, you
Every time that I see you, every time that I see you
Why don’t you return my calls?
You trip out, where I be
Should know, karma see me
Now you don’t got me, see me

[Intro: 2Pac & (Dru Down)]
Ah, yeah! Hahaha (Yeah!)
It’s all about you, one time!
(I’ma say it’s all about you, baby, yeah!)
Haha, for the bitches that think it’s all about you
It’s all about you! (This Dru Down in the house
With my boy ‘Pizznac, you know what I’m sayin’?)
It’s all about you
(Yeah, I’m gon’ say it’s all about you
But you know I’m lyin’ though, hah! Yeah)

[Verse 1: 2Pac]
You probably crooked as the last trick
Want to laugh about how I got my ass caught up
With this bad bitch?
Thinkin’ I had her, but she had me in the long run
It’s just my luck, I’m stuck with fuckin’ with the wrong one
Wise decisions, based on lies we livin’
Scandalous times, this game’s like my religion
You could be rollin’ with a thug
Instead you with this weak scrub, lookin’ for some love
In every club, I see you starin’ like you want it
Well, baby, if you got it, better flaunt it
Let the liquor help you get up on it
I’m still tipsy from last night
Bumpin’ these walls as I pause, addicted to the fast life
I try to holla, but you tell me you taken
Sayin’ you ain’t impressed with the money I’m makin’
Guess it’s true what they tellin’ me
Fresh out of jail, life’s hell for a black celebrity
So that’s the reason why I call, and maybe you with it
Fantasies of us sweatin’, can I hit it?
Addicted to the things you do
But still true what I’m sayin’, boo, ‘cause this is all about you

[Hook: Nate Dogg & 2Pac]
Every other city we go, every other video
It’s all about you
No matter where I go, I see the same ho’
Yeah, nigga
Every other city we go, every other video
It’s all about you
No matter where I go, I see the same ho’

[Verse 2: 2Pac]
I make a promise if you go with me, just let me know
I’ll have you hollerin’ my name out before I leave
Nobody loves me, I’m a thug nigga
I only hung out with the criminals and drug dealers
I love niggas, ‘cause we comin’ from the same place
Witness me holla at a hoochie, see how quick the game takes
How can I tell her I’m a playa? And I don’t even care
Creep low, weed smoke’s in the air
Everywhere I go, it’s all about the groupie hoes
Waitin’ for niggas at the end of every show
I just seen you in my friend’s video
I never put a bitch before my friends, so here we go
Follow the leader and peep the drama that I’m goin’ through
It’s all about you, yeah, nigga, it’s all about you

[Hook: Nate Dogg & 2Pac]
Every other city we go, every other video
It’s all about you
No matter where I go, I see the same ho’
Every other city we go, every other video
It’s all about you
No matter where I go, I see the same ho’

[Verse 3: 2Pac]
I see you struttin’ in your miniskirt
A crooked smile with a heart that did plenty dirt
Will it work with your ass as you pass me by?
Sayin’ “hey,” I’ve been looking at you smile all day, let’s parlay
Drinkin’ liquor, kissin’ to help you know me quicker
While I keep workin’ on your zipper, my tongue kissin’
In your position I’m fortified to do the mission
Move your hips and groove to this
Too many cooks in the kitchen, nobody take the time to listen
They probably think we still dissin’
Wit’ your permission, I can make you scream my name
I’m a real man, guide you through the sleazy game
Follow me, let me take you to the ecstasy
You’ll have the time of your life when you next to me you’ll see
Ain’t no way they can stop me
When I know a true thug woman got me

[Hook: Nate Dogg & 2Pac]
Every other city we go, every other video
It’s all about you
No matter where I go, I see the same..
